Your images are always so creamy and beautiful! Even when they contain a lizard. LOL

Amy, the focus on this one is fantastic! You always nail it. Depth of field is just as amazing. Love your work

map maker map maker find me a map.

build me a bridge…find me a….

i had the pleasure of shooting this guy last night. i knew he was into maps and geography but until i SAW for myself – i really had no idea. for fun he makes maps, complete with functional road ways, rivers- they include counties and cities within the counties. he writes very tiny and precise. he showed me the pieces he is currently on and the piece he had been working on before but “it was really not my best piece”. he totally said that. his walls are decorated with maps he made and lego cities he built too- also labeled. and he had a whole file cabinet filled with real maps- organized super tidy. i was very impressed. this is for his mom. <3 i will be blogging the rest of the family’s session later this week but i had to share this. <3

we went to the sundial bridge for more shots. and he made a beeline for the touchscreen map. 😀

n, you’re awesome!

bugger off! | life. right now. | a 365 project | twenty five

June 24, 2011

i was sitting at my computer in my office last night. scratch. scratch. scratch. i kept editing. it kept making noise.

i looked up thinking the cat was in the window. no cat. i thought- a bat? not a bat. what was that thing hanging off the window sill on the outside? it was huge! legs were huge too!

excited i threw my blackberry down and grabbed my rubber boots (country folk here) and a flashlight and the biggest cup i could find. i was soooo scared. i am NOT a bug person. but i couldn’t not grab this sucker.

i’ve never seen a bug that big in real life! so me in shorts, a tank, my polka dotted rubber boots, flashlight and cup- i dashed outside.

i got to the window. it’s one of those popout windows where you put plants or cats like to sleep. it was hanging off the top. about 6 feet up. i put the cup under it and hoped it would fall in and not on me.

it finally did fall in. i screamed like a school girl at a just beiber concert. waving my arms around in case it flew out or something.

ahh nope still in the cup. whew. ran inside. waiting for daylight the next day and tried to get some pictures.

tried. it moves fast. it flies. and it bites.

so not my favorite combo. :)

ok done shivering? me either! this little guy is called a pine sawyer beetle.

creepy. creepy. creepy.

he was over 2 inches long and they can get to over 3 inches. that equals another inch of creepiness. 😛

still alive? i am barely. just taking the pictures caused some screaming from me and my crew just getting these. he sure does like to uhhh move!

Great photos…yet totally creepy at the same time. I can’t believe the detail, especially on the eyes!

Yes one of the many creatures that our area has to offer us. I swear all the rain brought out new species of bugs that I have never seen before in my life. Yesterday I almost stepped on a snake lizard in my garage…now that was a ewwwww moment!!!!

SO creepy! I do however love your macro shots….you are amazing! :)

Eeeewwww, love the detailed macro but eeeeewww! I would have had to use at least a 500mm just so I wouldn’t be so close. I hate bugs.

I just got my new macro lens today. :) You are such a HUGE inspiration for me!! The bug is creepy, but my goodness – you’re talented!

Great shots! My favorite is the 3rd one down. I’m still shivering – I can’t imagine how you got that close to it!!

my baby turns 5 | life. right now. | twenty four

June 10, 2011

well one of my babies anyway.

her first big girl bike. actually her first girl bike for that matter. she was so excited and loving it!

she checked it out. sat on it. inspected some more.

smiled a lot. 😀

we live in the country a bit but i am sooooo glad we have a nice fat concrete driveway for her to practice on!

it took her a few tries to get the hang of the whole pedaling thing.

(and we’ll see how long those training wheels last!)

but she got it.

and Elektra- my 5 year old birthday girl.

i love you E-rah!

and of course some pictures. these are plain old 100% snaps. i just wanted to capture her enjoying her brand new toy.

ran through lightroom quickly and here we are. 😀 thanks for peeking!

ps….my life right now 365 project goal is 50 posts by the end of 2011. I am almost half way there woohoo!

I just voted for you! I think you’re wonderful. I actually came to your page to look up pricing for family sessions! I love your natural approach to photography and the lighting you capture. And of course, looove your presets for Lightroom!
