family of five | sneak peek

December 13, 2011

well not really a sneak. they have already ordered. i am sooo behind on blogging!

i love shooting families. and we got to go urban here and that was a fun change up!

downtown redding is just full of color and smells. we saw a short but loud train roll by.

we ran away from someone’s very recent barfo mess (not from us yeck!) and the smell of burning uhhh…cannibus was very strong.

but really a fun session. i am amazed at what we were able to grab in 30 minutes!

love the B family! <3 xx

moved over a little bit after the exciting train went by.

full of smells that had us running for a safe spot by the downtown mall.

doesn’t she look amazing? ahhh! such a gorgeous family!

and those were THE last snaps i grabbed of this session. thanks B family!

Amanda | Senior 2012 | Redding Senior Photographer

October 26, 2011

I’ve been shooting little ones and families but I hadn’t done a senior yet. So when the opportunity arose- I nabbed it.

We had a funny time walking around with my giant reflector, heavy bag stuffed full of my rad gear, trying to beat traffic to cross streets, clothing changes and she in her fancy duds and heels getting a few admiring passerby smiles. :)

I lost a lens cap…somewhere…never did find it. But oh so worth it! Amanda rocked her session!

I had a really great time and Amanda was lovely and sweet and so, so easy to work with. Thank you L Family for trusting me with so many of your family’s memories.

Doesn’t she have the most stunning eyes??

I hope you have the most amazing year, Amanda!

terrific twos | sneak peek | little bits

August 24, 2011

what is this terrible two thing? yes two year olds are sassy. they are finding their voice. using their words a little. lots of tantrums.

but really it’s just a learning phase. they have so much going on inside their little heads but the mouths simply cannot keep up. they get frustrated that we can’t understand

what they are trying to say. goodness. how many times have we asked our two year olds “ummm sweetie what did you say?” and you hear “bluffin fat cappy fish” and since this was the THIRD time they’ve said it-you know good and well you have to pull the nod and ‘oh yeah’ move.

as moms, we often get pretty snazzy at translating though don’t we?

sally, “nid doos keep.” and you look at mom puzzled and she nods and says “oh she’s just asking you for some grape juice.”

aren’t you glad to have mom around to translate?? whew!

well one of my favorite things as a children’s photographer is to just get down and observe. especially with toddlers. they just want to know you are in their world. i don’t want them in mine. how boring is that? i’m already IN mine!

but following them around. seeing what makes them smile, laugh, throw me looks of puzzlements, the serious looks…and really just capturing them.

i really really enjoyed this session and not just because my star subject shares the same birthday as i do.

(but that is pretty darn cool i have to say!)

and we ended the day with some ice cream. it’s always fun to see what my toddling subject will do with theirs. some attack the top and chuck the rest. but Miss K totally went for the bottom first.

maybe she knew that’s where all the yummy chewy chocolate was hiding? mmm!

as always. i have the best time photographing little people. they are so fun- i just get pulled right in. thank you miss K and i hope you had the BEST birthday!

so i lost my first tooth | sneak peek

July 18, 2011

I featured her brother a while back. And I couldn’t NOT feature her too. Fair is fair right?

Losing your first tooth is a big deal and I love that she shared with me!

The toothfairy that visited her, totally needs to finish my house.

Money, a sweet little note…man! Our toothfairy slips a buck under the pillow and steals the tooth. 😛

Thanks Miss Sofia! Next tooth you lose- please leave a little note with your tooth sharing our home address so your fairy can swing by here. 😀
