Nikon and Canon have their own Calibrations. Nikon has more. Canon has fewer.
But Canon’s are definitely different from Nikon’s.
I usually use the standard Adobe Calibration in my presets. I encourage users to change them per your image.
Landscape/Macro Images do very well on Standard and Landscape. Nikon users also get to enjoy Vivid. These have a little extra contrast and are not always nice on skin.
Portraits do especially well on Neutral and Portrait settings. Canon users also get a nice one called Faithful. These are really good for skin tones. Easy on contrast and magentas/reds generally.
I have noticed that some of my presets start looking a little harsh and red on a Canon image. It’s instantly fixed by using a Canon Calibration preset.
I’m offering 3 Canon and 3 Nikon presets for free. These are best on portraits/people images. Please insert them (or just one- up to you!) into your favorite set of Lightroom presets.![]()
Please note there is nothing ‘special’ about these. They can be found in your right hand panel at the very bottom in your Lightroom. So why did I offer them as presets? Many of us work in the left panel first (where our presets are) before moving to the right panel to tweak. If you find the Faithful calibration works best for your images/overall body of work- nestle THAT one preset in your favorite Lightroom set (doesn’t even need to be an OJS set). Play it after you play a standard preset. If you play a new preset – it will likely cancel it out.
These are FREE. Hope you find them useful!
and pssst….just download the one set you need. if you are Nikon, downloading the Canon ones won’t give you anything new and cool. it defaults back to Nikon.![]()
